I get this exception trackback error (I've just included the last part of it here) when trying to debug a pytest in VS Code after recently updating my uv venv:

The tests run fine from the CLI, and they run fine in VS Code when not debugging, and they run fine in PyCharm's debugger but the VS Code Debugger extension consistently gives this error when attempting to debug run these tests with my latest venv.

I'm using version 2025.8.0 of the Python Debugger in VS Code (I tried downgrading it a couple of versions but also got the same error so it doesn't appear to be a recent regression in the Debugger at least). I assume something about these new dependency versions is breaking the debugger somehow...

Okay so it seems like frozenlist 1.6.2 is the culprit. I reverted it to version 1.6.0 (version 1.6.1 was yanked) and the Python debugger is happy debugging the tests again...

One more thing I just noticed... the error only occurs if I put breakpoints in the test code. With no breakpoints the tests run fine in the Python debugger with frozenlist 1.6.2

Same here with Python 3.13 on MacOS. When I downgrade to Python3.12 (also frozenlist==1.6.2), everything works.

This is my experience also. If I add a breakpoint that would occur after frozenlist is loaded (by aiohttp), then it crashes at the import of aiohttp. If I don't put a breakpoint in, it runs fine. If I enable the breakpoint, after it has passed through the import of aiohttp, it works fine.

If I downgrade to frozenlist 1.6.0 the issue is solved.

I haven't confirmed yet but looks like frozenlist 1.7.0 is supposed to fix the issue in this PR: aio-libs/frozenlist#660
