Incorporate fixes from example-clients and tools repository pull requests

We should merge as relevant, close as wont-fix/merge otherwise.

From what I can tell the following are good and should be added/ adapted to be added in case they are still needed:

• Capture client improvements example-clients#4 -> Fixes for example-clients/capture_client.c #45
• Minor fix example-clients#5 -> Example clients 5 #46
• Trivial proofreading tools#4 -> trivial spelling fixes, can be disregarded (as not easily cherry-picked unfortunately)
• Minor fixes tools#7 -> Remove calls to deprecated ALSA function #47
• alsa_in/out: Convert between sample rates when necessary tools#8 -> already applied
• Exit correctly on write errors tools#11 -> due to tab poisoning it is non-trivial to cherry-pick the commits without destroying the author data (asked author to redo PR: Exit correctly on write errors tools#11 (comment))

I can't say whether jackaudio/example-clients#6 is useful or not.
jackaudio/tools#5 can be closed as won't fix (as we will not continue using autotools).

I think all related PRs in the other repos can be closed now and the repositories archived.
