Not all models are available from Copilot #2550

Describe the bug

As seen here https://docs.github.com/en/copilot/reference/ai-models/supported-models#supported-ai-models-in-copilot there should be a huge number of models available but when I start copilot cli and enter /model I don't see:

  • any Gemini Model
  • Raptor mini
  • Goldeneye

Some versions ago I could still use Gemini but then it got disabled. Why are the models in the cli so limited compared to available ones on github.com and github.com/copilot ?

Even that list seams not to be true: https://docs.github.com/en/copilot/reference/ai-models/supported-models#supported-ai-models-per-client as i don't have Gemini 3 Pro available.

The only models I have available are the ones from Claude and GPT, nothing else.

Affected version

v1.0.19

Steps to reproduce the behavior

No response

Expected behavior

Have all the available models available in cli the same way as on GitHub.com, including Raptor mini, Goldeneye and Gemini.

Please explain why cli models are so limited compared to github.com/copilot with the same (free) plan.
