Describe the bug

rendering tables in a way that is very hard to read, not sizing the columns appropriately and then giving up and giving me a list instead.

Came to file the exact same issue. I think the root cause in the cases I have seen is that the column width calculation appears to include the full URL length (including the href portion of markdown links) rather than just the visible link text. This causes columns to overflow or wrap badly.

Example: a table with a "File" column containing corp treats the cell as ~150 chars wide instead of the 7-char visible text "file.md"

Expected behavior: column width should be based on rendered/visible text length, not raw markdown length.
