according to this talk, I think the difference is that Gut is "history-based" rather than "change-based", but I need to find a Haskeller who speaks English and wants to explain their point of view in under 5 minutes, preferably with a glossary, workflow diagram, and standard use case walk through

I asked pmeunier if he plans to add an interdiff library also. that should help me figure out what intersection there is between what he's doing and what I'm doing
