It seems strange that 6615abf fails, since the CI is not compiling with backtrace enabled...

Ah, there is an unintended difference in 660cdb0 -> 6615abf, which is that with backtracing disabled, we don't specify -fomit-frame-pointer any more. I thought this is enabled by default already at O1 however.
