fastdl program instalation thing doesn't help

downloading the program fastdl thing didn'tt help me in shorting download times, feels like it even made them slower
i don't know what else to put here

What games did you try this with? And what directories have you selected? From what I know about the Source engine it should work fine..

i tried with tf2 and the directory was C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2

I just tested it with TF2 on my own, i downloaded the TF2 repo using the FastDL Manager and then joined the server, it only had to download a couple of files (don't know why they aren't being synced but there was so little it really doesn't matter) and then joined the server perfectly fine.

Are you sure the repo was downloaded successfully? Do you recall the command prompt window having anything weird in it? You might have you been unlucky or something, im not too sure..
