coder.ddev.com / partition filling up with workspaces

It seems that our coder.ddev.com setup has workspaces in /home/coder/workspaces, which is mounted on the root / partition.

sudo ncdu -x /

/home should be in its own place, probably /home/coder/workspaces should be in its own place

This can be sorted out with symlinks, mounting, etc, but we'll need to

• Put new workspaces in the new place?
• Copy to new place?
• Choose which partition to use

1. Move workspace storage off the root filesystem

The easiest operational fix is to move workspace storage onto a larger disk and keep the path stable with a bind mount.

Example approach:

/data/coder-workspaces  -> actual storage
/home/coder/workspaces  -> bind mount

This avoids any user-visible changes.

Steps:

1. Stop or drain workspaces
2. Copy existing data
3. Bind mount new location
4. Restart workspaces

Example:

sudo rsync -aHAX /home/coder/workspaces/ /data/coder-workspaces/

sudo mount --bind /data/coder-workspaces /home/coder/workspaces

Add to /etc/fstab:

/data/coder-workspaces /home/coder/workspaces none bind 0 0
