This pull request updates the tutorial and notebook to use the latest Couchbase vector index terminology and features, replacing references to GSI (Global Secondary Index) with Hyperscale and Composite vector indexes. The changes improve accuracy and clarity regarding Couchbase's current vector search capabilities, update documentation links, and rename files for consistency.

Major terminology and documentation updates:

  • All references to "GSI vector index" and "GSI optimization" in RAG_with_Couchbase_and_Jina_AI.ipynb have been replaced with "Hyperscale and Composite vector indexes".

File and identifier renaming:

  • The notebook file has been renamed from jinaai/gsi/RAG_with_Couchbase_and_Jina_AI.ipynb to jinaai/query_based/RAG_with_Couchbase_and_Jina_AI.ipynb to match the new terminology and organization.

Content and instructional updates:

  • Instructions, requirements, and code comments have been updated throughout the notebook to reference Hyperscale and Composite vector indexes instead of GSI, including index creation, performance benchmarking, and caching sections.

Frontmatter cleanup:

  • The obsolete frontmatter.md file referencing GSI and outdated metadata has been removed.

  • These changes will be published to the developer portal tutorials only if frontmatter.md is included.
  • Proofread all changes before merging, as changes to notebook and frontmatter content will update the developer tutorial.

2 Notebook Files Modified:

Notebook File Frontmatter Included?
jinaai/query_based/RAG_with_Couchbase_and_Jina_AI.ipynb
jinaai/search_based/RAG_with_Couchbase_and_Jina_AI.ipynb

3 Frontmatter Files Modified:

Frontmatter File
jinaai/gsi/frontmatter.md
jinaai/query_based/frontmatter.md
jinaai/search_based/frontmatter.md
Note: frontmatter will be checked and tested in the Test Frontmatter workflow.

Summary of Changes

Hello @giriraj-singh-couchbase, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request modernizes Couchbase vector search tutorials by updating them to use the latest terminology and features introduced in Couchbase 8.0. The changes ensure that the tutorials accurately reflect current best practices for implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) with Couchbase and Jina AI, enhancing clarity and providing up-to-date guidance for users.

Highlights

  • Terminology Update: All references to 'GSI vector index' and 'GSI optimization' have been replaced with 'Hyperscale and Composite vector indexes' to align with Couchbase's latest 8.0 requirements.
  • File and Directory Renaming: The tutorial directories and associated files have been renamed for consistency and clarity. Specifically, 'jinaai/gsi/' is now 'jinaai/query_based/', and 'jinaai/fts/' is now 'jinaai/search_based/'.
  • Content and Instructional Updates: Instructions, requirements, code comments, and documentation links within the Jupyter notebooks have been updated to reflect the new vector index terminology and features.
  • Obsolete File Removal: The frontmatter.md file, which contained outdated metadata and GSI references, has been removed from the jinaai/gsi/ directory.

Code Review

This pull request does a great job of updating the tutorial to reflect the latest Couchbase 8.0 terminology, replacing 'GSI' with 'Hyperscale and Composite vector indexes' and 'FTS' with 'Search Vector Index'. The file renames and content updates are largely consistent and improve the accuracy of the documentation. I've identified a few minor areas for improvement to enhance clarity and consistency, including an inconsistent heading in one of the notebooks, an outdated link, and some notebook outputs that appear to be out of sync with the updated code. Addressing these points will make the tutorial even clearer for users. Overall, this is a solid update.
