Case insensitive sorting for db.find(request) result set

In PouchDB, text sorting follows Unicode code points, so lowercase comes before uppercase. I want results from find() to sort like ASCII, keeping uppercase and lowercase versions of the same word together.

For example:

apple
pear
Apple

Should be:

Apple  
apple  
pear

The only solution I've found is adding a duplicate lowercase field for sorting, but that's not ideal.

Is there a better way to do this?

Not implemented or planed.

If you need that behavior in many cases, you can write an adapter/plugin for that case.
If you have it just in a few places, sorting the result might be the best option.
