What happened?
vbox version 7.2.14_RPMFUSION r174565
vbox extension pack version 7.2.4 r170995
updated system, tried to use vbox, no vm would run. found out its due to mismatched version of extension pack and vbox itself.
tried tried to update the extensions, got a generic error. Tried to uninstall the extensions, got a generic error. Tried to install the new one over the old one, got a generic error. Then tried to use the CLI to remove it and clean it up, got the following errors:
1: vboxmanage extpack uninstall --force 'Oracle VirtualBox Extension Pack'
0%...NS_ERROR_FAILURE VBoxManage: error: Failed to uninstall "Oracle VirtualBox Extension Pack" VBoxManage: error: Code NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005) - Operation failed (extended info not available) VBoxManage: error: Context: "RTEXITCODE handleExtPack(HandlerArg*)" at line 2159 of file VBoxManageMisc.cpp
2: vboxmanage extpack cleanup
VBoxManage: error: The installer failed with exit code 127: Error creating textual authentication agent: Error opening current controlling terminal for the process ('/dev/tty'): No such device or address VBoxManage: error: Details: code NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005), component ExtPackManagerWrap, interface IExtPackManager, callee nsISupports VBoxManage: error: Context: "Cleanup()" at line 2168 of file VBoxManageMisc.cpp
I want to use vbox, but i cant, because the extensions dont match, and i cant remove the extensions to make them match. I have tried uninstalling the vbox package entirely, but the extensions remain. Is there a location on the disk i can delete to remove the extensions manually to fix vbox????
How can we reproduce this?
honestly i have no idea. Vbox was installed on f42 or 43, and system was updated several times. No clue when or how it broke, i just want to remove the extensions to fix it.
Did you upload all of your necessary log files, screenshots, etc.?
