Changelog

Each release lists the changes people using the site can see. The version is VERSION in script.js; the footer shows it.

Unreleased

  • Books: six public-domain books, typed a page at a time, continuing where you stopped.
  • Lessons: six stages from the home row to numbers, each unlocked by passing the one before.
  • Common Words in Spanish, French, and Portuguese. An accent typed with a dead key counts with its letter.
  • Keyboard layout emulation: Colemak, Colemak-DH, Dvorak, and Workman on any physical keyboard.
  • Your code: type code pasted or loaded from a file, with its line breaks and indentation.

1.1.0 (2026-10-25)

  • Daily: one 30-second passage a day, the same for everyone, shared as a line and a grid.
  • Pace caret: a second cursor at a target speed, your average, or your last run.
  • Replay: watch the finished run back with typos and corrections at their recorded times.
  • Save image: a 1200x630 PNG of the result, in the current theme.
  • Sound sets: Tones, Mechanical, Typewriter, and Soft, with a preview.
  • Passage font (including OpenDyslexic), text size, line spacing, and caret style.
  • Stats: misses per key on a keyboard, WPM by day, and a practice streak.
  • Code Snippets: at least 25 per language. Weak Keys also practices digits and symbols.
  • Settings regrouped, in two columns on wide screens. Punctuation, Numbers, language, and Skip indentation are next to the category menu.
  • The live stats are one line above the passage. The result dialog leads with WPM, and its charts have a scale.
  • Phones: the line being typed stays above the on-screen keyboard, and the controls hide during a run.
  • A notice when progress cannot be saved. Best runs store their keystrokes in less space.
  • Offline: a slow network falls back to the saved copy after 3 seconds.
  • Forms for proposing quotes, snippets, and word lists.
  • The footer shows the version, and returning visitors see one line about what changed.
