Reproduction

2. Log in
3. Check network tab in dev tools

Expected behavior

Bandwidth and resources isn't wasted on unnecessary requests

I cannot reproduce, sync requests are sending as expected for me on my continuwuity hs and on matrix.org (synapse).

That is strange. I just tested it in Vivaldi and I get the same issue there.

Edit: Tested in incognito as well, no extensions. Same issue.

I just made a new account on my homeserver and tested that. It doesn't seem to happen at the same rate, but it still sends sync requests rather often. Does seem to be an account specific issue.

We do use a shorter timeout than most other clients, so that's expected. iirc element web uses 20000, cinny uses 30000, we use 10000 for... some reason... I'm sure there's a reason, probably.
