Add OceanBase and GreatSQL to Software & Tools
Daily curation routine (2026-10-01). Checked existing content/resources/software, saas, and books by title and link domain, and reviewed the open resources/auto-2026-09-30 PR (#66, not yet merged — adds go-mysql, Prometheus mysqld_exporter, TiDB Operator) to avoid proposing the same resources again. This round's network access only reaches GitHub-hosted content (github.com, raw.githubusercontent.com, avatars.githubusercontent.com) plus GitHub release assets — vendor sites (mysql.com, mariadb.com, oracle.com cloud pages, book publisher sites) are blocked by the environment's egress policy. That ruled out every SaaS and Books candidate this round (no reachable official logo/cover), so only Software & Tools entries with a real logo committed in the project's own GitHub repo were added. Added: - OceanBase (oceanbase/oceanbase) — Database Software, Data Warehouse & Analytics. Ant Group's distributed relational database with a MySQL-compatible mode and HTAP support. Apache 2.0. Logo from the repo's own images/logo.svg. - GreatSQL (GreatSQL/GreatSQL) — Database Software. A MySQL branch built on Percona Server for MySQL with HA/MGR, parallel-query, and security additions for financial-grade workloads. GPLv2. Logo from the repo's own README. hugo --minify built with 0 errors; both new detail pages render with their logos. GreatSQL is a MySQL branch built on top of Percona Server for MySQL (itself based on MySQL), aiming for drop-in syntax compatibility with both while adding its own set of enhancements: improvements to Group Replication (geographic tags, arbitrator nodes, faster single-primary failover and leader election), a parallel query ("Rapid") engine, parallel `LOAD DATA`, non-blocking DDL, and NUMA-aware thread scheduling. It also adds security features such as encrypted logical and clone backups, SQL/data auditing, and InnoDB encryption with the Chinese SM cryptographic algorithms, which it markets toward financial-grade deployments.

It's released under GPLv2, maintained as a community-driven project (a Gitee "GVP" project) with packages for CentOS/RHEL, openEuler, Anolis, UOS, Kylin, and other distributions including LoongArch, alongside a Docker build image and source builds.

OceanBase is a distributed relational database originally built by Ant Group to run Alipay's own transaction volume, and later open-sourced. Its MySQL compatibility mode lets existing MySQL applications, drivers, and tools connect with little or no change, while the underlying architecture shards data transparently across nodes using the Paxos protocol for consistency and automatic failover. The same cluster can serve transactional and analytical (HTAP) queries without a separate ETL pipeline into a second analytics system.

It's released under the Apache 2.0 license. Clusters can be run self-managed via RPM packages or an all-in-one installer, in Docker, or on Kubernetes through the official ob-operator; Docker images are published to Docker Hub, Quay, and GHCR. OceanBase reports production use across more than 2,000 organizations in financial services, telecom, and retail, with TPC-C benchmark results in the hundreds of millions of tpmC.
