Summary
When typing a non-default search engine's keyword (e.g. "google.com") in the address bar (Omnibox), pressing the Tab key does NOT switch to that search engine, even though the inline UI hint explicitly says to press Tab ("Press Tab to search ...").
Pressing the Space key switches correctly instead.
Steps to reproduce
- Make sure a non-default search engine with a keyword is registered (edge://settings/searchEngines).
- In the address bar, type the keyword (e.g.
google.com).
- The inline hint appears: "Press Tab to search ...".
- Press the Tab key.
Expected behavior
The Omnibox switches to the specified search engine (as the UI hint and the official documentation describe).
Actual behavior
Pressing Tab does nothing / does not switch the search engine.
Pressing Space switches correctly. The behavior contradicts the on-screen hint.
Workaround
Press Space instead of Tab.
Environment
- Edge version: 149.0.4022.33 (Official build) (64-bit)
- Channel: Beta
- OS: Windows
