Proposal: Redesign/Improve the ILUGD Website

Hi @ILUGD maintainers 👋

I’d love to contribute to improving the ILUGD website to better serve the community. After exploring linuxdelhi.org, here’s my analysis and proposal:

Current Observations

1. Homepage:

   • Minimal event visibility; lacks visual appeal.
   • No clear pathways for new visitors (e.g., "How to Join").

2. Events:

   • Text-heavy list without filters/archives.
   • No integration with external tools (e.g., Meetup, Calendar).

3. Blog:

   • Inactive since 2020; broken "Read more" link.

4. Technical:

   • Limited responsiveness on mobile.
   • Missing SEO/accessibility best practices.

Proposed Improvements

• Design & UX:

  • Modern, responsive layout with clear CTAs (e.g., "Join Our Next Event").
  • Add visuals (team photos, event galleries).

• Events Management:

  • Integrate with a static-site-friendly tool like Tito or embed a Google Calendar.
  • Archive past events with search/filter.

• Blog Revival:

  • Migrate to a Git-based CMS (e.g., Decap CMS) for easy updates.
  • Encourage community-authored posts.

• Tech Stack:

  • Static site generator (Hugo/Jekyll) for easier maintenance.
  • Improve SEO, accessibility, and performance.

  • Set up a prototype with Hugo/Decap CMS.
