Smaller grid increments for the layout

Hello, I've been testing/using Freeter for the past 3 days and I'm in love! This program is FANTASTIC!... Simple concept, ingenious implementation!

However, I've encountered a few problems or limitations that I would love to see addressed. I'll separate them in different posts for easier tagging if developers decide to work on them.

The problem/limitation I'll mention here is in the title, I'd love to have a smaller "grid" when seting up the layout of each Workflow (when moving and placing widgets).

Right now the grid is 16x8 in my screen (1920x1080)... I would like it to be at least twice the resolution: 32x16

This would give me so a much more fine grained way of placing things.

Hopefully this wouldn't be too difficult to change/modify in the codebase.

The grid size can be set in widgetLayout.ts.

Although, if I understand correctly, you're pointing to the source code... So I would need to change the source (and understand how to do it correctly first), compile it... and for every new version of Freeter I would have to do the same... Basically, I would have a "custom build" of Freeter?

That's... well far from ideal.

Although, if I manage to do it, would I just "submit it" and these changes would be included in the official Freeter?

You can fork a repo, make your changes, build it yourself, test it and make a Pull Request to be merged into Freeter for everyone. But keep in mind that even though your screen is 1920x1080 px, Freeter window could take much less space (non-maximized) and the grid would be too small, especially for 1x1 widgets.

That's totally true, but I could spin it the other way around... Maybe 16x8 is perfectly fine for smaller resolutions and non-maximized windows, but when you maximize it or have large resolution screens, 16x8 is too "coarse" of a grid.

In those cases I always advocate to "let the user decide" and give them the option... I think it's perfectly fine to have a 32x16 grid by default and if the user wants/needs a bigger widget, they just resize it, but they will still have the option to make them smaller.
