KVM doesn't have XML editting

I used sudo apt-get install virt-manager, but it does not have XML editing. The version it installed for me is 1:1.5.1-0ubuntu1.2. What version do I have to install to enable that option?

Same issue on elementaryOS Hera. Since it's based on Ubuntu 18.04, it only has the bionic repos. Maybe adding the repository of Ubuntu 20.04 solves the issue.

I had the same problem on Debian 10. The xml file for the vm is located in /etc/libvirt/qemu/VMNAME.xml. I just edited the file directly while the vm was not running.

This is a really bad idea. You're not supposed to mix repositories - see here

The safe way to edit the XML file of a KVM machine is using virsh edit <vmname>
